Our Story

About TN Mountain Gardens

Our vision is to inspire people to garden.  To help you experience the fulfillment of eating produce that you grow yourself! I’m Robert Sitton and the TN Mountain Garden story begins from my childhood. I remember gardening with my dad as a young boy. Our family grew food for enjoyment and necessity. Stretching your food budget is one of many benefits of a vegetable garden. The beauty of gardening is that it’s great for both personal time and family time. Whether you’re growing eggplant, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage — a garden with live plants will always make your backyard homier and more beautiful.

TN Mountain Garden was started with my wife Terri (Rest in Heaven) and myself. It began as a way for us to showcase gardening tips, tools, and stories to help others see the benefits of gardening. I am all about family involvement and from time-to- time, my sister Pam and the family dog Lucy makes cameo appearances on the YouTube channel. TN Mountain Garden are proud heirloom tomato growers. Through the gardening experience I have learned some very valuable lessons and taken each of these lessons to offer information about growing heirloom tomatoes on my social media and videos.

I have over 50 years’ experience gardening and it has trained me to see the world differently, to notice the veins on leaves and the moisture of dirt. It has helped me to see details I wouldn’t normally care about if I hadn’t been taught that paying attention is vital for the survival of a garden that depends on you to flourish. Gardening is a pastime meant for the anyone. It’s healthy, beautiful, and rewarding. I love being in my garden and experiencing the silent scientific processes taking place all around me. Get started gardening and see how good it feels to keep something healthy and alive. You might just find yourself planting a few vegetables and falling in love with gardening as I have!
