TOMATO- AMANA ORANGE
Amana Orange tomatoes are a beautiful bright orange colored beefsteak tomato. The tomatoes are said to have a sweet, tropical flavor. If you have never grown them, give them a try in your garden. None of us know what we are missing until we try a new variety in our garden!
HISTORY OF THE TOMATO: There is some difference of opinion in where the Amana Orange Tomato originated. Some state that the tomato was first raised in Iowa and is named for the Amana Colonies there. Others state that the Amana Orange is a tomato variety that Gary Staley found growing in his tomato patch in 1984 in Brandon, Florida. Either way it is a self-pollinating tomato with a wonderful flavor!
