TOMATO - MONEYMAKER
Moneymaker tomatoes produce fruits that are 4 to 6 ounces. They are also well known for their heat tolerance. Quite often moneymaker tomatoes are grown in high tunnels or greenhouses. They make an excellent market tomato due to their size and shape. The plants do best when pruned in the greenhouse type setting. However, they will grow and produce in the garden. Just as in the greenhouse setting, pruning can help the tomato produce fewer but larger fruits.
HISTORY OF THE TOMATO: Because this is a tomato grown on a commercial scale you probably would not think of it as being an heirloom; however, it is. Moneymaker tomatoes can be traced back to 1913. It also might surprise most people that Moneymaker Tomato is said to be the most popular tomatoes still grown in the UK.
